Meet Jeffrey Shepard, founder of
MedaCheck, a health care startup.
How did you start your business?
Our business was started as part of the
Innov8 for Health program in Corryville. It was a combination of ideas from me and co-founder Dawn Sheanshang to help ensure that people take the right medication at the right time.
How did you come up the idea for your business?
The idea came out of frustration around caring for loved ones who were taking more than one medication and needing assistance.
What resources here did you take advantage of and how did they help?
We have been fortunate to work closely with so many great people at Innov8 for Health. We have really leaned heavily on relationships with General Electric, the University of Cincinnati, Kroger and the
Queen City Angels, just to name a few. Their input in our product development has really helped us to identify what the customer is asking for, which has enabled us to build a tremendous first product.
What does a typical day in your business look like?
As the CEO, there’s not a typical day in this start-up. We have been busy with technical product development and investor presentations, as well as building a client base. We are gearing up now for a public beta and are excited to be building new technology that will be our second and third products respectively.
What’s next for you and your company?
We have our initial product that is getting ready for a full release and two other that are in heavy development. We’re focused on bringing in the best talent and growing at a rate that provides us the ability to be flexible.
Our new external relationships are exciting; we have several potential customers that are waiting to see what we have to provide for them. It’s a great place to be only four months into this start-up.
