M.O.M Tools (or Men of Miami) was founded in 2003 by University of Miami grads Anthony Lockhart and John Collier. The pair created a patented "Dual-Head" punch for the metal fabrication and fastener industries, with the idea to improve productivity and reduce tooling, maintenance and scrap expenses. Lockhart and Collier are marketing the tool's competitive advantage for companies that require high volume and precision like the automotive, aerospace, defense, appliance and medical device industries. The pair say independent testing shows the tool has a longer life and better quality "punched" hole than current tools on the market. M.O.M's research shows The "Dual-Head" punch can increase production by more than 20%, and the company's founders believe those productivity gains can help manufacturers keep Ohio jobs from going overseas. The startup has gotten some funding for its work. The  Great Lakes Innovation & Development Enterprise (GLIDE) grant program awarded M.O.M. $25,000.
