Officials push for Xenia unmanned aerial systems development

Officials say now is the time for developing a Xenia greenfield site into a 163.5-acre hub for civilian unmanned aerial systems development.

About 50 officials convened in a cornfield just south of Xenia Friday morning, and spoke of the potential civilian uses for UAS and UAV technology, notably for precision agriculture monitoring, geospatial and emergency responders. Officials from the city, county, and a number of Dayton businesses and organizations agreed that the potential could be huge.

Ohio Aerospace Institute to host Capital Forum in Cleveland

The Ohio Aerospace Institute will host the Aerospace Capital Forum On July 9 in Cleveland.

The forum will address why aerospace investments are important to industry growth. Panel discussions will focus on aerospace capital for large businesses and growth capital investments for entrepreneurs and small companies.

Ohio to showcase aerospace products and services at Paris Air Show

Ohio will be represented in the 50th International Paris Air Show from June 17 to 23 by a delegation of aerospace manufacturers, universities, and aerospace advocacy organizations, as organized by The Ohio Aerospace & Aviation Council and JobsOhio. The State of Ohio’s booth will showcase the products and services of Precision Alloy Services, The Ohio State University, Renegade Materials, Maverick Corporation, SIFCO Industries, Inc., Tesla NanoCoatings Inc. and The University of Akron.

GE Aviation to spend $200 million in Ohio

GE Aviation said Friday it is investing $200 million over the next three years in its Ohio operations, including Evendale, Peebles and the Dayton area.

The Dayton Development Coalition has been commissioned by the state of Ohio to help develop an industry for unmanned aerial vehicles and their electronic equipment, in addition to devising a strategy to protect and retain jobs at Ohio’s military facilities.
